Terms
Plain English. Last updated 2 September 2026.
The short version
Be decent, don't post things that aren't yours, and pay for what you signed up for. Cancel whenever you like. If something here isn't clear, ask me and I'll tell you straight.
Who you're dealing with
DayXGuitar is run by one person โ Niall โ in the UK. Contact for anything at all, including complaints: niall@dayxguitar.com. A human reads it.
Your account
You need to be 16 or over. Use a real email address you can actually get into, keep your password to yourself, and don't share an account โ the Challenge is a record of your year, so one person, one account.
Free and paid
A free account gets you the daily videos, the community and your own journey. A Band Member subscription adds early access, the live hangouts and the Challenge. What's included can change as the site grows; anything that takes something away from you, I'll tell you about first.
Paying
Band Membership is billed monthly through Stripe, at the price shown when you join. Founding members keep the founding price for as long as they stay subscribed โ stop, and rejoining is at the price of the day. It renews automatically until you cancel. Card details go to Stripe and never touch this site.
Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time from your billing page. You keep everything you've paid for until the end of the month you're in, and you're not charged again. Nothing gets deleted just because you stop paying.
If you're a new subscriber you have the usual 14-day right to change your mind under UK consumer law, reduced fairly if you've already used the paid parts. Beyond that, ask โ if something went wrong, I'd rather fix it than argue about it.
One thing to know, because it's the sort of rule people find out about at the worst moment: a refunded month doesn't count towards the Challenge, and it also takes one off your total. That's deliberate. Refunding a month can never be a shortcut to lifetime membership.
The Challenge
The Challenge is a commitment to twelve months of guitar progress โ at any ability, from anywhere. It is not a beginners' course. Finishing needs twelve qualifying months of paid membership and enough logged practice; the current detail lives on the Challenge page, because it's a young thing and it'll be refined.
I review submissions myself. I'll be fair, I'll explain a decision, and my decision is the final one. Complete it and you get a personal video message from me, and โ if you were a paying member throughout and eligible โ lifetime membership. If I ever have to change the rules mid-flight, nobody already running gets worse off for it.
What you post
Your check-ins, videos, comments and posts stay yours. You're giving me permission to store them and show them on DayXGuitar, and nothing more โ I won't sell them, licence them on, or put them in an advert without asking you first.
Only post what's actually yours. No abuse, no harassment, no spam, nothing illegal, and nothing that would make a person feel unsafe here. I can remove anything that breaks that, and I'll tell you why.
Live sessions
Hangouts and open sessions may be recorded or streamed elsewhere. If you join the stage, you're on camera and other people will see and may hear you. Watching without joining keeps you off camera.
This isn't guitar tuition
I'm not a teacher โ I'm someone learning in public, one day at a time. Everything here is one person's experience, not instruction. Play sensibly, stop if something hurts, and get a real teacher or a doctor when you need one.
Things will break
The site is in pre-launch and being built in the open. Features will change, things will occasionally go wrong, and I can't promise it's always up. What I can promise is that I won't lose your stuff quietly โ if something goes wrong that affects you, you'll hear it from me.
Closing an account
You can delete yours whenever you want, and deletion means deletion. I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and if I do, I'll say what happened. If I close a paid account for something that wasn't your fault, you get the unused part of the month back.
Where I stand legally
I'm liable for what the law says I'm liable for, and I'm not trying to wriggle out of the parts that matter โ nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, and because this is a small subscription, what I can be liable for is capped at what you've paid in the last twelve months. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by anything on this page.
Changes to these terms
They'll change as the site grows. Small tidy-ups happen quietly; anything that actually affects you gets told to you before it takes effect.
Which law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of your own local consumer law and can use your own local courts.
